9-Game Slate - Avalanche Streak, Rangers-Bruins Showdown

Friday, November 28, 2025

VS

New York Rangers (12-11-3) @ Boston Bruins (14-11-5)

1:00 PM ET TNT TD Garden BOS -132 O/U 6.5 Thanksgiving Showdown

The annual Thanksgiving Showdown brings the Rangers to TD Garden for an afternoon matinee. New York enters with momentum, boasting a franchise-record 8-1-1 road record - their 17 road points through 10 games is the best in franchise history, surpassing the 1931-32 mark of 16. The Rangers have won five of their last six meetings against Boston. Igor Shesterkin should get the start in net for New York.

Bruins Without McAvoy

The Bruins will be without top defenseman Charlie McAvoy (facial surgery, out indefinitely) after taking a Noah Dobson slap shot to the face. McAvoy leads Boston in TOI (23:46) with 14 assists in 19 games. The bigger story is Morgan Geekie's breakout - he leads the NHL with 17 goals in 24 games, tied with Nathan MacKinnon. Geekie is on pace for 58 goals after scoring 33 last season, and has been deadly from mid-range with 103+ MPH slap shots (the fastest in the NHL this season). David Pastrnak has 11 goals and 26 points, recently scoring his 400th and 401st career NHL goals (6th in Bruins history).

VS

Colorado Avalanche (17-1-5) @ Minnesota Wild (13-7-4)

3:30 PM ET Xcel Energy Center COL -176 O/U 6.5 10-Game Win Streak on the Line

The game of the day features the Colorado Avalanche putting their incredible 10-game winning streak on the line - tied for the second-longest in franchise history (also achieved in 2021-22 and 2017-18). The Avalanche (17-1-5) have extended their point streak to 14 games (12-0-2) with the third-longest start to a season with one regulation loss (23 games) since the 1979-80 Philadelphia Flyers (37 games).

MacKinnon Leading the Charge

Nathan MacKinnon leads the charge with 18 goals and 39 points in 23 games, tied for the NHL lead in goals. The 30-year-old recently became the franchise's all-time points leader and won MVP of the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off. Colorado has shut out opponents three straight times, tying an Avalanche/Nordiques franchise record.

Wild's Goaltending Tandem

Minnesota presents their toughest test during this streak. The Wild are 8-1-1 over their last 10 and feature one of the NHL's best goaltending tandems. Rookie Jesper Wallstedt is 6-0-2 with a .935 save percentage and 1.94 GAA - the fourth-youngest goalie in league history to start a season with an eight-game point streak. He's posted three shutouts in his last four starts with 175+ minutes of shutout hockey. Kirill Kaprizov leads the Wild offense with 24 points (11G, 13A), while Matt Boldy also has 11 goals and 22 points. Filip Gustavsson is 4-1-1 with a .921 save percentage in November.
