Liverpool vs Leeds United

What better way to ring in the new year than with a clash between the Premier League's dominant force and a promoted side looking to prove they belong? Liverpool have been absolutely relentless at Anfield this season, their pressing machine turning the iconic ground into a fortress where opponents simply can't breathe. Mohamed Salah continues to defy Father Time, and the supporting cast around him has been clicking on all cylinders.
Leeds returned to the top flight with a point to prove, and Daniel Farke has them playing attractive, possession-based football that's easy on the eyes. But here's the problem - that style gets you eaten alive at Anfield. The Reds thrive against teams who want to play, because it gives them space to counter into. Leeds' high line has been exploited repeatedly by teams with far less firepower than what Liverpool brings.
The fixture list did Leeds no favors scheduling them at Anfield on New Year's Day. Liverpool should be well-rested after the holiday break, and they'll be hungry to put on a show for a packed house. Look for the Reds to come out flying and put this one away early. Three or four goals isn't out of the question - Liverpool's attack has that kind of upside on any given day.
