College football gets one ticket today and it is not a side. Wisconsin and Notre Dame under 46 at -110, two units to win, 7:30 pm eastern from Lambeau Field on NBC. Notre Dame is a 20.5 point favourite and ranked fourth in the country, and none of that is what this bet is about.

This bet is about the fact that Wisconsin scored 12.83 points a game last season, 135th out of 136 FBS teams, and that the market is currently asking that offense for roughly thirteen points against the 13th ranked scoring defense in the country while it breaks in a quarterback who has never taken a snap for the program.

The Play And The Math

PlayPriceTo WinRisk
Wisconsin/Notre Dame Under 46-1102.02.20
Card2.002.20

One game, one number, 2 units to win against 2.20 units of risk. Break even is 52.38 percent. There is nothing to hedge and nothing to diversify into. Either this total stays under 46 or the day is red by 2.20 units, and I would rather say that plainly than dress a single ticket up as a card.

How The Units Are Counted

The price is a minus number, so the 2 units is the profit and not the stake. Under 46 at -110 puts up 2.20 units to win 2. If the game lands on exactly 46, the whole number refunds and the day is a push rather than a loss, which is a meaningful piece of the value here and the next section explains why.

Why 46 And Not 46.5

Consensus on this game is 46.5, priced -110 either way. That is where most of the market sits. Pinnacle posts the whole number, 46 at -110 on the under, which is a better line at an identical price.

Half a point sounds like nothing until you notice where the projection lands. This game models in the low 40s. In that neighbourhood, 46 is a number the game can genuinely finish on, and finishing on it turns a losing ticket into a refund. Paying the same -110 for the extra half point is free, and free is the correct amount to pay for it.

Nine And A Half Points A Game

Wisconsin went 4-8 in 2025 and scored 154 points in twelve games. That is 12.83 a game, 135th of 136 FBS teams. Only Massachusetts scored less. Here is the whole season, in order:

OpponentWisconsinOpponentTotal

at Iowa03737
at Ohio State03434
Oregon72128
at Washington131023
Indiana73138
at Illinois271037
Minnesota71724

Strip out Miami of Ohio and Middle Tennessee and you are left with ten games against Power Four opposition, in which Wisconsin scored 95 points. Nine and a half a game. Two shutouts. Seven points or fewer four separate times. In ten of the twelve games the Badgers did not reach 18 points, and the two exceptions came against Middle Tennessee and a 10 point Illinois team.

Ten of Wisconsin’s twelve games in 2025 finished under 46. The highest combined total in any Wisconsin game all season was 52, and it took Alabama scoring 38 to get there.

The offensive numbers underneath the scoreboard match it. 253.1 total yards a game. A 57.7 percent completion rate. 27 sacks allowed. Jeff Grimes is in his second year running that offense, which is the year the fix is supposed to arrive, and Luke Fickell is coaching for his job in front of a Green Bay crowd against the man who used to be his defensive coordinator. All of that is real. None of it changes what the personnel did the last time they played a game.

What The Market Is Asking Wisconsin For

Books that post team totals have Notre Dame around 34.5 and Wisconsin around 13.5. Add them and you get 48, which is the usual way a pair of team totals sits above the game number. The version priced into the game total is closer to Notre Dame 33 and Wisconsin 13.

So the question stops being philosophical. Can Wisconsin score thirteen points? Not thirty. Thirteen. And the answer has to account for who they are scoring them against.

Notre Dame allowed 17.58 points a game in 2025, 13th of 136, and returns almost every starter that produced it. Chris Ash has Drayk Bowen back at linebacker, Leonard Moore and DJ McKinney at corner, Adon Shuler and Brauntae Johnson at safety, Boubacar Traore and Armel Mukam up front. The defense that gave up 17.58 a game to a schedule containing Miami, Texas A&M, USC and Purdue is essentially intact.

On the other side of it, Colton Joseph is a real player. He won Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year at Old Dominion and Wisconsin did well to get him. He is also starting his first game for a new staff in a new conference, throwing to Eugene Hilton Jr., Shamar Rigby out of Oklahoma State and Malachi Coleman out of Minnesota, behind a line that listed Kevin Heywood and Emerson Mandell as game time decisions this week. Abu Sama III is the lead back. That is a lot of first snaps happening at once against the 13th best scoring defense in the country.

The Notre Dame Side, Honestly

Here is the case against this ticket, made as strongly as I can make it. Notre Dame scored 42.0 points a game last season, fourth in the country, on 458.5 yards a game and a 67.2 percent completion rate. C.J. Carr threw for 2,741 yards and 24 touchdowns at 9.35 yards an attempt, second nationally, and 14.06 yards a completion, fourth. He is a Heisman favourite in his third year with Mike Denbrock calling it. Notre Dame games averaged 59.58 combined points in 2025 and cleared 46 in nine of twelve. If you only look at the Irish, this total should be 60.

Two things pull the number back down, and both are specific rather than vague.

The first is who they are playing. Offenses that averaged 35 or more points a game played 37 games against top 25 scoring defenses in 2025 and averaged 26.57 points in those games. Not 35, and certainly not 42. Elite offenses regress hard against good defenses, and Wisconsin allowed 21.58 a game last season, which is 39th of 136. That is not a wall, but it is nowhere near the tomato cans that inflated the Irish average.

The second is the backfield. Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price both left as first round NFL picks. Aneyas Williams takes over with 58 career carries to his name, 443 yards and seven touchdowns on 7.6 a pop, and behind him are Nolan James Jr., Kedren Young, Javian Osborne and Jonaz Walton. That is a productive room on paper and an unproven one in practice, and the running game is exactly where a 42 point average gets built and where the fourth quarter of a blowout gets burned.

There is one more thing worth saying about the blowout scenario, because people get it backwards. A three touchdown lead does not push a total up, it pushes it down. Notre Dame up 31-3 in the third quarter hands the ball to a first year lead back and runs clock, and Wisconsin’s answer is an offense that has to string together five minute drives with a quarterback playing his first game. The blowout is a path to the under, not away from it.

What Happened To This Exact Profile In 2025

I pulled all 888 completed FBS regular season games from 2025 and sorted every team by what it scored and what it allowed, to find out what actually happens to a total when a team like Wisconsin plays.

Team profileGamesMean totalUnder 46
Scores under 20, allows 24 or fewer2435.4679.2%
Scores under 20, allows more than 2419249.0440.1%
Any team scoring 35 or more20960.3821.5%

The first row is Wisconsin’s profile exactly: a bad offense attached to a defense that is not bad. Those games averaged 35.46 combined points and stayed under 46 four times out of five. The distinction in that table is the whole thing. A bad offense on its own does not make an under, because bad offenses usually come attached to bad defenses and those games turn into 49 point track meets. A bad offense with a competent defense is a different animal.

Narrow it further, to games where a 35 point offense met a team scoring under 20 and allowing 24 or fewer, and there were only four in the country all season. Three of the four finished under 46, at an average of 37.75, and two of the four were Wisconsin:

Oct 25, 2025Oregon 21, Wisconsin 728
Nov 15, 2025Indiana 31, Wisconsin 738

Four games is four games and I am not going to pretend a sample that size settles anything. What it does is confirm the mechanism from the larger cut. Oregon averaged 38.2 points a game in 2025 and scored 21 on Wisconsin. Indiana was one of the best offenses in the country and scored 31. Neither of them got near their season average, and the Badgers contributed seven points on both nights.

Openers Score Less

One more piece from the same dataset. The 96 FBS games in week 1 of 2025 averaged 49.58 combined points and went under 46 in 38.5 percent of them. The other 792 games averaged 53.36 and went under 46 in 34.1 percent.

Roughly four points a game, and it is not mysterious. First games are sloppy. Timing is off, penalties pile up, new starters make new mistakes, and coaches call the second half like the film is going to be studied for a month, because it is. Both teams here are 0-0 and both are opening with a new lead running back or a new quarterback. That is the environment this total is being played in.

What Beats This Ticket

The clean way to lose is a Notre Dame explosion. The Irish put up 70 on Syracuse and 56 twice last season. If Carr is immediately in midseason form and Notre Dame hangs 45 by itself, Wisconsin needs one touchdown to bury this and a beaten team will usually find one.

The second way is points that no offense earns. A pick six, a punt return, a scoop and score. In a game projected this low, one defensive touchdown is nearly fifteen percent of the number, and a mismatch like this one is exactly where those happen. That risk is real and it is the single biggest hole in the ticket.

The third is the weather, or rather the absence of it. Kickoff is forecast at 66 degrees, 4 mph wind, no rain. There is no help coming from Green Bay in September. This is not a weather under and selling it as one would be a lie.

And the fourth is the obvious one. Every number in this article is from 2025, because there is no 2026 film. Wisconsin has a new quarterback, a second year coordinator and a coach fighting for his job. Teams do improve. What a program does not usually do is go from 135th in scoring to average in one summer while replacing its quarterback.

Bottom Line

Two units to win on under 46 at -110, 2.20 units at risk, break even at 52.38 percent. The case is one number and it is Wisconsin’s: 12.83 points a game last season, 9.5 against Power Four opponents, ten of twelve games finishing under this total, now facing the 13th best scoring defense in the country with a quarterback making his first start for the program.

Notre Dame is the reason this is two units and not four. A 42 point offense can beat any total on its own, and if the Irish decide the number is irrelevant then it is. The bet is that they land closer to the 26.57 that elite offenses have averaged against good defenses than to their own inflated season average, and that Wisconsin does what Wisconsin has done in every serious game it has played for a year.

The play is posted publicly with the price and the unit size before kickoff, and graded on a verified record afterwards. The full record is here, win or lose.

Play FAQ

What is the BetLegend college football play today?

One play. Wisconsin and Notre Dame under 46 at -110 for 2 units to win, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, 7:30 pm eastern on NBC. It is the only college football ticket on the card.

How are the units counted on this play?

The price is a minus number, so the 2 units is the amount being won and not the amount being put up. Under 46 at -110 costs 2.20 units of risk to win 2. Break even is 52.38 percent.

Why under 46 and not under 46.5?

46.5 is the consensus number and most books post it at -110 either way. Pinnacle posts the whole number 46 at -110 on the under, which is the same price for a better line. At 46 a game that lands on exactly 46 refunds instead of losing, and 46 is a live number in a game projected in the low 40s.

How bad was the Wisconsin offense in 2025?

12.83 points a game, which ranked 135th out of 136 FBS teams. Against Power Four opponents it was 9.5 points a game across ten games. Wisconsin was shut out twice, held to 7 or fewer four times, and scored more than 17 points only against Middle Tennessee and Illinois.

Does a new quarterback fix that?

Colton Joseph was the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year at Old Dominion and he is a genuine upgrade. He is also making his first start for a new program, in his first game under this staff, against a defense that ranked 13th nationally in points allowed and returns nearly all of its starters. Two Wisconsin offensive linemen were listed as game time decisions this week.

Notre Dame scored 42 points a game. Why is this not an over?

That is the strongest argument against the ticket and it deserves a straight answer. Notre Dame scored 42.0 a game in 2025, fourth in the country. The counterweight is that offenses averaging 35 or more points played 37 games against top 25 scoring defenses last season and averaged 26.57 points in them. Notre Dame also lost both starting running backs to the first round of the NFL draft and opens with Aneyas Williams, who has 58 career carries.

What does the weather do to this total?

Nothing. Kickoff at Lambeau is forecast at 66 degrees with a 4 mph wind and no precipitation. This is not a weather under and it would be dishonest to sell it as one. The case is entirely the Wisconsin offense.

What beats this ticket?

A Notre Dame track meet. If C.J. Carr picks up where he left off and the Irish hang 45 on their own, Wisconsin only needs a garbage time touchdown to push the total over. Notre Dame cleared 36 points in 8 of its 12 games last season. Defensive and special teams touchdowns are the other risk, because those are points no offense has to earn.

Where can I see the graded result?

The play is posted with its price and unit size before kickoff on the verified BetLegend record at trustmyrecord.com, and graded there afterwards whether it wins or loses.
