Patrick Mahomes walks back onto the Arrowhead grass on Monday night 274 days after tearing up his knee, and the biggest NFL number on this card is Denver getting a point and a half against him. That isn't a take on Mahomes. It's a take on the pass rush that'll be chasing him. Denver led the league with 68 sacks last season, and Kansas City is starting an undrafted rookie at left tackle because Josh Simmons is out.

6 units to win, 7.96 at risk. Two baseball games before that, and they come with a twist: Cleveland and Toronto are chasing the same American League wild card spot, and this card has a ticket on both of them.

All Four Plays And The Math

Cleveland is the heaviest ticket on the card, 3.04 units and 38 percent of everything at stake. The two Denver plays aren't the same bet, but they lean the same way: if the Broncos get to 21, it's hard to picture them losing by two or more. Read them as one 2.85 unit position on a Denver offense that shows up.

Broncos +1.5: The Pass Rush Against The Rookie Left Tackle

Let's start with the man everybody's watching. Mahomes said last week he expects to play with no limitations, and ESPN's depth chart has him first with Justin Fields behind him. Nobody should bet against his arm on the idea that the knee isn't ready. That's not the bet here.

The bet is about who's standing in front of him. Kansas City ruled out left tackle Josh Simmons on Saturday and is expected to turn to Kahlil Benson, an undrafted rookie, to protect the blind side. They're also without safety Chamarri Conner and a rotation defensive tackle. Now look at who's coming. Denver set franchise sack records in back to back seasons, and the 68 it piled up last year led the NFL.

Last season, 2025 regular seasonBroncosChiefs
Record14 and 36 and 11
Points per game23.621.3
Points allowed per game18.319.3
Head to headWon 22 to 19 in Denver, won 20 to 13 at Arrowhead

Those are last year's numbers and they come with an asterisk. Mahomes didn't play the second meeting, and Kansas City has spent a whole offseason getting him back. But Denver didn't stand still either. Jaylen Waddle is in orange now, Evan Engram is the tight end and J.K. Dobbins leads the backfield. The Broncos also made the AFC title game, where they lost 10 to 7 to New England. This isn't a team that needs a break to hang around.

Denver's got two absences of its own: outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper and guard Nick Gargiulo are both out. Losing Cooper hurts the exact thing this ticket's built on, and it's worth saying out loud. The rush still has the depth that got it to 68.

The market's got Kansas City at 2.5 around town, so a point and a half is the shorter number. That hook matters less than it sounds. Our sister study at SportsBettingPrime counted every NFL road underdog of 1.5 to 2.5 points from 2015 through 2025, and those teams lost by exactly two in only 8 of 246 games. Lost by exactly three? 19. The number you want to be on the right side of is 3, and both 1.5 and 2.5 are on the wrong side of it.

Broncos Team Total Over 20.5: What They Scored In This Rivalry Last Year

Denver scored 22 and 20 against Kansas City last season. One cashes this ticket and one misses by a point, which is about as honest a preview as you'll get. Across all 17 games in 2025 the Broncos got to 21 or more 9 times, and on the road it was 4 of 8.

So why the over? Because the Kansas City defense on the field Monday isn't the one that allowed 19.3 a game. It's missing a starting safety and a rotation tackle, and the Broncos just added Jaylen Waddle. The forecast at kickoff calls for 89 degrees with gusts near 29 miles an hour, and wind that strong is the one real threat to a passing plan. Watch the flags in the first quarter. If they're snapping, Denver will lean on Dobbins, and that's a slower way to 21.

Guardians -152: Gavin Williams Against A White Sox Bullpen Day

This is the biggest ticket on the card, and the game carries real weight in the standings. The White Sox are 76 and 73 and lead the American League Central by a half game over the 76 and 74 Guardians. Cleveland's also sitting in the third wild card spot. Win tonight and Cleveland takes over first place.

Here's Cleveland's starter, off MLB's own stat feed this afternoon.

Gavin Williams, 2026Figure
Starts and record29 starts, 13 and 7
ERA and WHIP3.78 and 1.09
Strikeouts228 in 169 innings
At Progressive Field3.01 ERA, 134 strikeouts in 95.2 innings
Last two starts13 innings, 2 earned runs, 24 strikeouts
Guardians record in his starts18 and 11

Those last two starts were a 13 strikeout night against Toronto and 11 more against Detroit, both at home. He's pitching like a guy who knows what September means.

Chicago's answer is Sean Newcomb, and that tells you a lot. Newcomb has made 54 appearances and only 5 starts, and the longest of those starts went 3 innings. His last one was 1.1 innings in St. Louis on Saturday. The White Sox will be pitching this one out of the bullpen from the first inning, two days after Newcomb opened in St. Louis, and they're 3 and 7 in their last ten. On the road they're 33 and 42.

The one thing to respect is the lefty split. Cleveland hits just .226 with a .659 OPS against left handers this year, and Newcomb throws left. But he won't be around long enough for that to decide the game. The Guardians have lost 6 of 10 to Chicago this year, so this isn't a matchup that's been kind to them. The difference tonight is the starting pitching gap, and it's wide.

Blue Jays -138: Soriano At Home, Melton Sliding

Toronto's 75 and 75, one game behind Cleveland for that last wild card spot. The Jays just took two of three from Baltimore at Rogers Centre, scoring 15 runs in the last two games.

José Soriano came over from the Angels and the Blue Jays are 6 and 1 in his 7 starts. His Toronto numbers, a 4.05 ERA over 40 innings, aren't pretty, but he's gone seven innings in two of his last three and allowed two runs in Sacramento his last time out. On the season he's at 3.48 across 163 innings.

Detroit's Troy Melton has a lovely 2.42 ERA, and that's why this price isn't bigger. But his last four starts tell a different story: 15 earned runs in 23.2 innings, including five against Minnesota in a 15 to 2 loss on September 1. He's also struck out just 14 across those four starts. The Tigers have won four straight, which is the part of this that should worry anyone on Toronto, and they're 31 and 43 away from home.

The Argument Against These Four

Mahomes. If the knee is fine and Benson holds up, the Chiefs can win by a field goal and take both Denver tickets down together, which is 2.85 units.

The White Sox own this matchup. Six wins in ten meetings, and a division lead they didn't get by accident. A bullpen game can go well when every reliever's rested.

Melton could flip back. A 2.42 ERA over 108 innings doesn't happen by luck, and one good night from him makes -138 look expensive.

Card FAQ

What are the BetLegend plays for Monday September 14?

Four plays. Cleveland Guardians moneyline at -152 for 2 units, Toronto Blue Jays moneyline at -138 for 1.5 units, Denver Broncos +1.5 at -110 for 1.5 units and Denver Broncos team total over 20.5 at -120 for 1 unit.

How much is the card risking?

Every price is laying juice, so the unit figures are the amount being won. The card is 6 units to win and 7.96 units at risk.

Why take Denver with Patrick Mahomes returning?

The case is the matchup up front. Kansas City ruled out left tackle Josh Simmons and is expected to use undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson, and Denver led the NFL with 68 sacks last season. The Broncos also beat the Chiefs twice in 2025.

Why the Guardians at -152?

Gavin Williams has a 3.01 ERA at Progressive Field and struck out 24 in his last two starts, while the White Sox start Sean Newcomb, a reliever whose longest start this season is 3 innings. A Cleveland win moves the Guardians into first place in the AL Central.

Why the Blue Jays at -138?

Toronto is 6 and 1 in José Soriano's starts, and Troy Melton has allowed 15 earned runs in 23.2 innings over his last four starts. The Jays sit one game behind Cleveland for the last wild card spot.
