#24 Miami (OH) @ Buffalo
Tuesday, 7:00 PM ET | Alumni Arena, Buffalo, NY
This is the game of the night, and it's not particularly close. The #24 Miami (OH) RedHawks at 22-0 are one of only two undefeated teams remaining in Division I basketball alongside Arizona. Their 22-game winning streak is a Mid-American Conference record, surpassing the legendary 2001-02 Kent State squad that made a run to the Elite Eight. Miami is the real deal, leading the nation in field goal percentage at 53.7% and ranking third nationally in three-point percentage at 40.9%.
The RedHawks don't just shoot the lights out, they defend too. This is a complete team that's been blowing through MAC competition with ease. Almar Atlason has emerged as the go-to scorer, while Peter Suder and Antwone Woolfolk provide scoring punch from multiple positions. Woolfolk's ability to grab double-digit rebounds gives Miami a physical presence that most mid-major teams can't match. Their 28 consecutive home wins is the longest active home streak in Division I, but now they have to prove they can win on the road in a hostile environment.
Buffalo at 14-7 overall and 4-5 in MAC play is no pushover. The Bulls are led by Ryan Sabol, who's averaging 20.3 points per game, good for fourth in the MAC. Sabol has scored in double figures in every conference game this season, showing remarkable consistency. Daniel Freitag leads the conference in free throw makes and attempts, making Buffalo a dangerous free throw shooting team. The Bulls get 36.4% of their points from three, the best mark in the MAC, so they can absolutely shoot with Miami.
The 163.5 total is the highest on the board tonight, and for good reason. Both teams can score in bunches, and this game has the potential to be a track meet. Miami has played above this number consistently, and Buffalo's style invites high-scoring affairs. The spread at -4.5 feels light for an undefeated, nationally-ranked team, but Alumni Arena can be a difficult place to play. Buffalo has the offensive firepower to keep this competitive, but can they actually stop a Miami offense that's been virtually unstoppable all season?
